I don't trust Elon Musk or his Starlink.
I don't believe that Truth Social will depend on Starlink.
I believe that Space Force has been quietly involved in developing a new internet system based on satellite relays that avoid the older ground-based infrastructure.
If you read the linked article, you'll notice that it never mentions how Hewlett Packard, Apple, or any other hardware manufacturers retain legal ownership of their products. Just look at the user accounts on an HP system running Windows and you'll see that HP has an admin account that can't be removed. Microsoft also forces upgrades that you can't stop from being installed. That's forced ownership.
The article talks about (as an analogy) how building material suppliers could come in and take away the materials used to build your house. It's the same thing with your internet devices. They retain ownership and can remotely disable your ability to use them at any time. It's all built into the hardware/software.
The only way around this is to do away with their ability to access your devices remotely. This is where a totally new infrastructure comes into play.
DARPA was behind the development of the current internet. DARPA chose or helped to develop the companies that would become the main providers of hardware and software, and worked with them in developing both the hardware/software and the terms of service that users would have to comply with. It's the terms of service that allow these manufacturers to retain legal ownership of your hardware and software.
Your current devices can still be used on a new internet infrastructure without concern about these company's terms of service or their ability to disable your devices. The new infrastructure will bypass their ability to access your hardware/software, which is what these companies rely on to do so.
Elon Musk is up to something, and I think it's an attempt to jack into the new infrastructure in order to allow these DARPA-chosen companies to retain their ability to access your hardware/software. Starlink has had a number of 'mysterious' problems over it's short history, and I believe this is due to Space Force taking action to stop the hijacking attempts.
We can only have a truly free internet when these companies no longer have the power they built into the old system to control your access.
