one thing i thought many times when i was in england was that for a place that was apparently the forefront of banking for centuries the bank transfers are fcking backwards, and our banks here in australia have gone backwards. we are now back to these week long clearing times where you are magically able to charge more than you have and you get hit up, and its random so its not like you can do a bunch of shopping then sneak in a packet of cigarettes or a bill intentionally or something
