I think there must be a trick. Maybe the owner of the NFT keeps buying and selling it to himself everytime at a higher price to make the price go up.
That's exactly how the vintage video game market exploded. A group of people kept selling video games to each other, then another few people associated with the buying and selling group set up a product grading service and would use the service themselves for their own products, and now a Wii costs more than when it released even though it's one of the most easily obtainable legacy systems available. The Wavebird controllers are nearly $100 for Nintendo brand, and over $30 for 3rd party when usually you would find them in bins at Goodwill.
