Ottawa City Council Chair Diane Deans admits that the protests are nation-wide (i.e. not just some fringe group). She calls it an 'insurrection'. She lies and says that her board doesn't direct police operations, but they already have by asking them to step in and deal with it, and then she goes on to ask the Chief of Police Peter Sloly what they can do to provide assistance. That in itself is a form of offering direction. Sloly also calls it an insurrection, and claims that it's "driven by madness". Oh, we're mad all right! We're fed up with the lies and draconian measures being forced on us and we're standing up in opposition to them! The residents of Ottawa who complain about the protest in their city are the minority in this situation, not the protesters across Canada (and worldwide). They need to just suck it up and realize what this is really all about. The unlawful acts that Sloly refers to boil down to breaking a few bylaws, and they can only hand out tickets. Carol Anne Meehan whines about "some of the bahaviors" (i.e. peaceful people giving each other hugs and enjoying themselves, keeping the streets clean, toning down the noise after 9:00 pm, dancing in the streets, making sure that there are no agitators or destruction of property, etc), and is baffled by it. I guess she expected Antifa and BLM to be brought in to infiltrate and start problems, but they're too small and cowardly to go up against these burly, 200+ lb. truckers and the hoards of people already there keeping things peaceful. She says there's criminal behavior going on, but where is the evidence? She doesn't have any and even says "if we could see some concrete things happening...". It sounds like she's actually suggesting that they make some things 'happen' in order to validate their lies. She also says that because this is an unprecedented situation they need to take unprecedented decisions (i.e. go outside the law and do something illegal). She wants to know what the plan is, and is probably just frustrated because she thinks she's being left out of it. She even begs to know. Lol!!! Diane Deans chimes in at this point and says they need to "take extraordinary actions" (i.e. break the law). She also states that they're "taking one criminal charge at a time", which suggests that there really isn't much need for heavy police presence, even though she claims that they're overwhelmed by problems of criminal activity. The police didn't even really start showing up until two days ago, to set up a few barriers and block roads. They're there more heavily now but have no real reason to be. They just walk around in the cold and would probably like it better if they weren't forced to have to be. None of the protesters mind them and are friendly to them, knowing that they're just following orders. She says "there are so many people out there engaged in a broader act of, um..." (pauses to think of a good word to use) "*mayhem*...", and suggests using section 63 of the criminal code to get a judge (one of their bought-and-paid-for stooges, of course) to declare unlawful assembly, "which would allow the mayor to then declare a riot, which would allow us to do some mass arrests". Talk about using the law to twist things in order to get their own way!!! And isn't this a form of directing? City Solicitor David White talks about "what levers we might pull, what orders we might obtain, to bring this to an end. The work that my office is doing is all with a view of assisting and supporting the operational plans that are being put in place by Ottawa police and their law enforcement colleagues." Isn't this a form of directing police operations, which Diane claimed at the start they don't do? David White says that a judge he spoke to regarding a class action doesn't even know how using section 63 would be effective and enforceable. Too bad for you guys! A now frustrated Diane Deans wants action immediately because they're in a "crisis situation", and asks David White how long it will take to "arrest this situation". He says that if mass arrests can bring this to a peaceful conclusion, then those are certainly things that his office will pursue. If mass arrests take place, it will be the usual five cops throwing a single target to the ground and pepper spraying them. That would be the only violence at the scene, and the cops will be the ones being recorded by the 1000s of onlookers with their phones. They can clog up the city cells and the court system, but that will just cause more problems, especially when a class action suit is made against the cops and the city for instigating it all, as this video proves. These people are fucked, and they know it. Diane Deans wants to declare a state of emergency, but David White tells her that "from the standpoint of legal authority the declaration of an emergency under the emergency management civil protection act does little." He goes on to say that "it does not imbue the mayor or the the city with any additional legal authority" and the province would have to declare an emergency, but even then "beyond the kind of symbolic value of a declaration of a state of emergency under the provincial legislation there's no additional authority that would provide either to the city or the police." Like I said, they're fucked. Diane Deans wants to know who's in a position to declare a state of emergency, and David White states that he's not in a position to tell her what level of government has the authority without some idea of what's necessary to bring the situation to an end. In other words, they have no idea of what to do. Diane goes on to say that "this is an extraordinary emergency and we need extraordinary measures." She goes on to say that "they have to declare the emergencies that we need to bring this situation to a peaceful ending." How about just ending the fucking mandates?? But nope, not ONE word about that idea! She goes on to say "we cannot allow this kind of terrorism in our community to continue in this way". Terrorism???? Who are the terrorists?
