Time for the Governor to stop this crap.

Time for the Governor to stop this crap.

(post is archived)

Over the past couple years they have installed smart water meter, electric meter and gas meter here! If you cover it so they can't read the signal they will come check on it and rip your shit off of it. It is considered their property not yours. I'm at a loss of what to do about it, I have bought a Faraday cage for one and a sheet of material that blocks signals but I suspect they are little to no actual help. The part about sending pulse through house wireing is troubling. I wonder if a in-line filter could be installed at your box? Any Electrical Engineer fags here?

Patriot, important to check the laws in your State. We are allowed to refuse this crap.

Everything electrical/electronic in your home exposes you to radiofrequency radiation. This includes your computer/phone which you use constantly. You don't understand what RF radiation is and you certainly don't understand that WiFi, Bluetooth and other consumer wireless technologies (your wireless mouse/keyboard) are using 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies to communicate. Consumer products have used these frequencies for decades now and all of a sudden you fear a smart meter using it? The only reason you fear these things is because you were told to fear them by people who have something to sell, be it merchandise, fame, attention or whatever else drives their motivations.

Electrical engineers like me just shake our heads in disbelief about what you non-technical folk worry about. You should be much more afraid of the 120 - 240 volts AC power coming out of your wall sockets because that can be lethal in an instant. Despite that, you feel like you are master of the plug and use them daily without any concerns at all because you got to get your Keurig coffee fix or whatever. You don't fear thousands of Watts of power that can kill you dead but you do fear milliwatts of power at a high frequency that will do virtually nothing to you. You are Dunning-Kruger affected because you buy into the fear sold by others. Stop it. Talk to an EE and learn what they fear and don't fear based on actual knowledge instead of hype. FFS people. Learn.

First nobody ever claimed it was safe, second a little radiation 24-7 adds up. Depending on exposure will depend on how fast people die from this crap. Are you the same engineer that claimed nuclear energy was safe and clean ? what happened to the nuclear waste ? was that safe and clean. There is a reason x-ray tech wear badges to show how much radiation they were exposed to.

I would agree if it were ionizing radiation, but your statement comes from ignorance. Light is radiation too. Does that add up?

Depending on exposure will depend on how fast people die from this crap

No one is going to die from this "crap". We've been exposed to RF radiation for more than 100 years and people aren't dropping dead from it. Stop fearmongering.

Are you the same engineer that claimed nuclear energy was safe and clean ?

No. I am not in support of nuclear energy because that is a real radiological health hazard, but not in the way that you think. It's not so much the radiated energy that is dangerous. It's the radioactive materials that are a severe health hazard. I'd much rather be exposed to 1 Gray of hard gamma radiation from outside of my body than have a few milligrams of Cesium-137 particles inside my body. I'd be able to recover from 1 Gray of gamma but the cesium-137 or strontium-90 particles inside me would kill me dead.

There is a reason x-ray tech wear badges to show how much radiation they were exposed to.

Yes because X-rays are ionizing radiation, meaning they have enough energy to them to knock electrons off atoms. RF energy does not have this ability and does not change the atomic or molecular makeup of matter. The two kinds of radiant energy are not comparable. The simple fact that you don't seem to understand that the term "radiation" simply means that something is moving away from a central point in a straight line seems to be your problem here. Radiation does not describe the energy, frequency or danger level of anything. It only describes the motion relative to its source. Bicycle wheel spokes "radiate" from the central hub just as flower petals radiate from the central bud of the flower. Are those unsafe because they radiate? Sound waves also radiate. Do you fear sound waves too?

If you're going to spread incorrect information like this, please put a disclaimer on it that you are not an expert or even educated on the subject. Doing otherwise just makes you a part of the problem and causes others who are also not properly educated on the subject matter to spread it further. It's okay to be skeptical of all things, but at least do a little work to verify things or learn the subject matter before spreading it far and wide in such an alarmist manner.
