The one point you made I'd like to answer to is your statement about:
At some point, if everyone who is supposed to be on our side turns out to be a piece of shit, what does that say about the movement in general? This is depressing.
I don't agree with this. If anything it shows they're legitimately worried about any organic leadership arising. The Pied Pipers seem intended to discredit and mislead.
