They believe they're right simply because they're capable of making their own choices, not because they know how to think things through to make the right ones. Their anger and bitterness is due to the confusion and turmoil that results, and the last thing they'll do is blame themselves for it. In the end they have to stand by their choice, but they're always incapable of explaining how they came to it because it didn't entail thought. Thus we get the same type of responses from them, again and again.
