Am I correct in interpreting this as if ONE parent nominates a book for removal and the book isn't removed within 30 days, there will be a 10K fine? I don't support books with age-inappropriate sexual content in schools, but it seems that this could set a nasty precedent for other books that ONE parent wants removed from a school.

Opinions?

I think your concern is valid and in its current form the bill has impressively sloppy language. It provides no due process in terms of reviewing the parent's request or at least putting it to a vote of the community. It looks like it was either thrown together quickly to get a foot in the door (and worry about amendments later), or just another attention-whoring stunt bill like .

another attention-whoring stunt bill like the one from a weirdo in Pennsylvania to require vasectomies.

That definitely crossed my mind.
