Basically, there is only solar energy that is "renewable". All other forms of renewable energy are derivatives of solar. For example: hydro-electric works by the sun evaporating water and later condensing it down to a mountain stream of some sort. Wind power is driven by the sun heating the planet unevenly, thus causing rushes of wind. Batteries are inherently dirty, polluting, heavy and expensive. Lots of batteries are required to store the ephemeral solar energy and make it usable.
