In 20 years of service, every single military equipment manual I have ever read, on every single weapon or other piece of equipment, includes a section, usually near the back, on the proper techniques and methods for destroying that weapon or piece of equipment, or at the very least, rendering it inoperable to prevent enemy use. Every single one.
The commander is personally responsible for everything that his unit does, or fails to do. That those weapons and aircraft are still operable means that the orders to destroy them or render them inoperable was never given, from the top, all the way down to the individual platoon/section leaders. This represents is either widespread gross incompetence, or criminal negligence on the part of the entire chain of command. Either the order was not given, or they were ordered not to. There is no third choice.
Thank you for serving to protect us. This is another example how men like yourself get sacrificed to morons who never faced battle or did not serve. I am a civilian which never served in our arm forces but I can see how our corrupt political leadership have left the combat personal exposed to the enemy. Common sense goes out the door when we are dealing with traitors.
