People are insane about dogs, cats, and other animals they keep as pets. Most have very poor ideas about animal care and nutrition. Over or under feeding them, then either no discipline or cruel discipline. Leaving dogs on a chain for days at a time with no interaction or alone in a backyard. Most people shouldn't have even a goldfish they are so negligent.
Then there are hundreds of abandoned stray dogs and cats in every city every month. Thinking they can all be homed or even should is delusional at best and frankly verges on being criminally reckless when you consider small children who may be injured or exposed to disease.
Currently any person can walk into one of these places and for a small fee pick up any animal whether that person or animal is suitable or not.
Then there is the entire problem of pet mills that churn out sickly animals year after year to make a profit. Mostly inbred animals which are in constant need of medical intervention to stay alive.
Patriot, all important reminders. Thank you for sharing this.
To avoid being misunderstood I want it known I am not against people having pets for emotional issues such as companionship. I am against people having animals on a whim and then not being responsible owners.
City life for an active dog is often spent alone in a yard most of their days. As a pack animal this is much like a human being forced to live in isolation. Or they are forced to live mostly indoors. As a kid in the country our dogs went with us everywhere except the school down the road.
Then there is the issue of dogs being selectively bred for horrible traits that leave them miserable and sickly or just inbred with mental issues.
Patriot, I understood what you shared correctly. And I totally agree with you.
