One of Omidyar's people sat on the board of the group that made vax passports mandatory for traveling between HI islands

I thought it was only masks and a recent negative covid test or is that just to get onto the main island?

To my knowledge traveling between the islands as well - I know they are pushing for vax passports and thought it had been passed.

If not, it will be.

That’s fucking complicated, I just had friends go there mid June and they just needed a recent negative test. The wife who’s crazy(a fun crazy, they even each other out) and always wants to say “I told you so” to her husband(he’s so laid back he doesn’t even pay attention to her craziness and it’s funny) got vaxxed because her brother is a pilot and said without a vax you can’t get into Hawaii. So she took the jab just to prove her husband wrong and wanted to leave him at the airport when he was denied entry. The group they went with got tests and even though she was vaxxed she needed a negative test also lol. She regretted getting the vax days after getting it and said sometimes she gets too caught up on trying to prove a point. They’re extremely comical to hang out with.

From the article:

Island residents now need the vax to travel between islands(sounds stupid) after a trial period that was in June.

People traveling from the mainland can still enter without a vax as long as they have a negative test. Then why do residents need it?

If you’re vaxxed you don’t need a test before traveling from the mainland but have to upload proof.

And then wtf is this:

The challenges of tracking and providing proof of vaccinations, from what will likely be countless providers/locations, will be a lot different than the current 'Safe Travels' program that helps track negative pre-travel testing. The U.S. DoD (Department of Defense) and CDC have also said there will be a COVID-19 vaccination card to track individual vaccinations. Hawaii appears to be proceeding using that method for verification of vaccine "passport" travel. The DoD has called its card the "simplest" method of tracking vaccinations while also saying, "Everyone will be issued a written card that they can put in their wallet that will tell them what they had and when their next dose is due(a booster?). Let's do the simple, easy thing first. Everyone's going to get that."

WTF is the DoD doing getting involved with vaccine passports, Biden has constantly stated they won’t be required and now a militarized federal agency is helping role them out? Nothing to see here, move along. It’s just a piece of paper for your wallet, for now.
