We have had our debates in the past, but I've always valued the debate Your bike is beautiful in a sense that an adventure is at hand, I have an 'old' touring ten-speed from the early '70s equipped with an ancient Brooks leather seat and Campagnolo shifters and breaks, but they have long lacked the adventure you're planning, The trip itself is a testament and expose of your mind. Thank you for sharing this with me, Years ago I relished occasions like this. I still do. Times have changed.

I could use that if it's a saddle seat with springs. My ass is getting too bony for long rides, and the seat I have isn't comfortable enough for me, but I'm willing to suffer it.

I'm just waiting for this heat wave to settle down before I go. Not much shade on the road. I wouldn't do this if I thought it was going to be too hard. I'm 60 years old and need to do it for my health and sanity.

I'm glad you can appreciate it. Life is to be lived.
