The whore and the great city are both Jerusalem. It sits on seven hills, is the mother of the rest of the whores and was split in three already (christian, muzzies and circle jerks). Besides the entire bible talks about how israel is the whore, and it does it over and over. It also refers to Jerusalem as the great city in several books preceding revelation. Revelation talks about how she's drunk on the blood of saints and prophets. Well all of the prophets were killed in Jerusalem to my knowledge.
The pope is certainly on their team though.
Even though Rome is also considered the city of seven hills, and by extension the Vatican, I suppose I can see how Jerusalem could be considered the beast. This latest attack could be the fatal wound spoken of which is to be healed. Either way, this feels like the finish line.
I always assumed the fatal wound was referring to when they crucified Jesus and shortly thereafter the Romans ripped every stone of the city down and plowed over it.
Indeed it was so covered over that when they rebuilt it, apparently they thought the old roman fort was Solomon's temple, and those small hats still pray to it till this day, lol.
