Yes, just like the mark that was used in the time contemporary to the time Revelation was written. Because everything they warned about took place in those times.

References to the beast were thinly veiled references to the emperor.

There are more worldwide events coming, obviously, since Jesus isn’t here yet. I think it’s a better debate as to what is still coming, but most of what was described in Revelation has already happened. I’ve read several very compelling arguments to that end. It makes a lot of sense.

They were being warned about all of the tribulations that did end up happening to them almost immediately.

Maybe but that doesn't mean it won't be happening.

I would argue that it sayd "great men of the earth" for a reason
