Yes, just like the mark that was used in the time contemporary to the time Revelation was written. Because everything they warned about took place in those times.

References to the beast were thinly veiled references to the emperor.

There are more worldwide events coming, obviously, since Jesus isn’t here yet. I think it’s a better debate as to what is still coming, but most of what was described in Revelation has already happened. I’ve read several very compelling arguments to that end. It makes a lot of sense.

The meaning of the word 'pharmakeia' is basically to "purposely lead astray"; "to knowingly cause to stumble". However, it is ascribed to persons of superior knowledge who misuse knowledge to victimize the ignorant or to lead astray from rational and empirical truth.

Think of the "vaccine enforcement lobby" promoting an experimental genetically modified mRNA therapy that is not approved by FDA. In fact, there is NO APPROVED vaccine for Covid-19. This is stated on the FDA website. Are they telling people this very important information or having them sign the required waiver before jabbing them with experimental drugs? Where is the informed consent that patients have a lawful right to know?

In a broader sense, 'pharmakeia' would include from necessity the abortionist and the local pimp, trafficking of children and spreading false religious knowledge would also fall under the category of 'pharmakeia'.

Isn't interesting the word pharmaceutical is derived from the same Greek word?
