That is the whole of the mandella effect, quite real.
Not real at all.
It's more than just mis-remembering. False memories are also involved.
You see something and you don't register it accurately, creating a false memory of what you saw.
Berenstein vs. Bearenstein vs. Bearenstain vs. Berenstain.
Or you hear a rumor and believe it's true, and later find out it's not, but you've already convinced yourself that it is, often by the weight of other similar-minded people.
Mandela died in prison vs. Mandela released from prison.
I remember the rumor about Mandela dying in prison. I also remember the announcement when he was later released. Sometimes the rumor is started through media propaganda.
It's a form of mass hysteria then. Probably propagated by mass media and our imperfect memories.
BUT, mass hysteria is a thing and happens. That's all I was saying.
No hysteria involved. Mass delusion.
It was an experiment in how gullible the public was.
