One solution might be to preclude moderators from moderating their own post threads. That removes much of the conflict of interest.
I've been trying to advocate easing up on the "don't insult the janitors rule." Honestly, I'm more tolerant about insults even though I'd prefer not to receive them. I tried making that clear with the rules and other comments, but some users insist on thinking the worst.
You're more tolerant than I am about insults - As far as I'm concerned, if the only content in a comment is a slur - and some of them are particularly nasty - it adds nothing to the board. It's one thing to have an opinion and another to simply call people names and throw vulgarities at them.
Looking at it objectively, it seems that much of the problem is related to mods moderating their own threads - and it is a conflict of interest.
You're trying to be reasonable, and that's a good thing.
I'll make sure to discuss with GodsAngell about the line between disagreement and rudeness towards us.
Yep, some people don’t come here for good debate or dialogue, they come here to take their frustrations and anger out on others. They’re the weasels in life that wouldn’t dare stand up to anyone face to face, even after some liquid courage. Most of them probably get manhandled by their wives.
So glad to see you're back, dear! Somehow I can tell you won't be leaving.
I like that Po'd . Brilliant idea.
Thank you, Sargent. 07
