Not really. A smart man learns from his mistakes. I made plenty in my life time. A wise man learns from the mistakes of others. That was hard for me to do as I never realized how much like a fool I was. That's the first test of wisdom, accepting you're a fool and then watching others do stupid stuff and saying, "Hey, let's not be like that". Look to wise men and follow that path.

A fool can learn to be wise but there are those who will never learn though life leave a thousand marks on their back. The real secret to life is having the humility to accept when you are wrong and fess up. Apologize and make it right. Yes, that's the hardest part. Humility.
