However, wiping out future generations of mosquitoes may cause environmental complications, such as potentially disrupting food chains. A new research study at the University of Missouri offers another option: genetically modifying mosquitoes to be resistant to Zika virus altogether.

Insane. In Brazil they not only failed previously by doing this same exact thing, but it made the problem worse. Science doesn't understand the balance of nature and the life forms that maintain it. NEVER DID.

GM mosquitoes were let lose in Brazil, killing the niche mosquito population, but it produced a vacuum for other species, many which were previously held in check, to exploit the new niche. Disease actually worsened.

Now they are trying this in Florida? Who is running the proverbial asylum here? These people are NUTS.
