Ignore Snowden and just listen to his words.
This is about privacy, not Snowden.
I agree with what Snowden says about unwarranted surveillance. However, if we agree with Snowden, are we more likely to also support the organizations with which he's associated? Yes. And that's the problem. Snowden's the director of the Freedom of the Press Foundation. https://freedom.press/about/board/
John Perry Barlow was also on that board. So are Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras, Micah Lee, Trevor Timm and John Cusack.
There's a lot more I could say about this, but here's the bottom line - FPF is funded by Omidyar - who wants all that data for himself and his cronies. It has NOTHING to do with real regard for OUR privacy or freedom from surveillance. If Snowden is truly concerned about our rights, why does he remain on the payroll of someone he knows is undermining them?
By ignoring Snowden's connections, I'd be contributing to people erroneously believing that the organization that employs him is actually working for "the good" when it is NOT.
