I'm with OP on this one. The text clearly states 60 days after the inauguration. There is no reference to election day at all. It doesn't make sense to interpret "inauguration" as election day since there is no president-elect at that point.
Besides his interpretation doesn't even make sense. The legacy POTUS has always retained control over the Military through Jan 20th at noon, on on Inauguration day. There would be nothing new to that.
But this is different, legacy POTUS now retains control over the military for 60 days AFTER Inauguration.
Election and Inauguration do not mean the same thing in legal terms:
Inauguration: Formal induction into office. A formal beginning or introduction. The act of inaugurating or inducting into office with solemnity; ceremonial investiture with office.
Election: The act or process of electing someone to fill an office or position.

(A) beginning on the day after the date of the general elections held to determine the electors of the President and Vice President under section 1 or 2 of title 3, United States Code; and(B) ending on the date that is 60 days after the date of such inauguration; and ``(2) without regard to whether the President-elect, Vice- President-elect, President, or Vice President submits to the Administrator a request for payment regarding services or facilities before the end of such period.''
You have to read the entire section in context. The "inauguration" mentioned refers to the period beginning on election day (November 3 general election) and not the January inauguration.
Oh, that explains it. You have to know how to read.
I read it like OP, election and 60 days past the resulting inauguration stemming from the election. It clarifies one thing but obscures another.
Damn. Makes sense why they are impeachment Trump. My black pil just got a lot redder.
