Either way they are swabbing very close to your olfactory nerves, which can explain people’s real or imagined loss of taste/smell.
Not sure of that. People here complained about loss of taste/smell long before we started with the nasal probing (the quick test), which was around Nov/Dec last year. Our PCR test was always in the throat.
In the US, the PCR test was initially and still mostly is a nasopharyngeal swab.
