They're brainwashed. They don't want to admit they're brainwashed because the scope and scale if it leads to only one conclusion: we and they are human cattle. This is an extremely painful and shocking conclusion to reach but it is ultimately the truth. The elites use fear, money, control of information, control of resources, and control over the tools of violence (mil, police, mobs) to control us. We aren't really free. Our lives are managed by them so that we live within their system. When we become too successful they add regulations to limit us. When we become too independent they change the game to make us more dependent (laws on gardening, controlling the seed supply). When they deem that we have too much freedom they fabricate a pandemic to force us indoors and destroy our livelihoods. We are not in control of our own lives. The elites can destroy us, kill us, rape our wives and our children at any time. That's a terrible truth to accept and most people can't handle it. They prefer the illusion that we have freedom and these high minded corporations will only act in their best interests, all while more evidence comes forward proving they are the monsters we know they are. Admitting the truth is hard. Extremely hard. Easier to take the blue pill.
