Over the past year, there has been a pretty clear divide between liberal governors, who almost without exception imposed irrationally harsh covid lockdown measures, and conservative governors, who generally took a more nuanced and pro-freedom approach. The data are now in, courtesy of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and they tell a story that cannot be misinterpreted.

My colleague Martha Njolomole created these charts. First, job losses in December 2020. She focused on the fact that Minnesota, shut down once more by feckless Governor Tim Walz, lost nearly 50,000 jobs in December alone, trailing only Michigan and California. By contrast, Wisconsin, about as similar to Minnesota as a state can be, is on the way to recovery, adding 15,000 jobs in that month. What state added the most jobs in December? Texas, by far.

I can see your passion here. You are right in many ways. However, it isn't just the people and businesses that are "stupid" and "ignorant", it is also law enforcement and people in government themselves. I can tell small business owners are frustrated and desperately trying to stay afloat when all these shut-downs have been ordered. There is no talking to them about face masks. It's just a FU reminder of what's causing their business to fail. The weight of piling up bills and rent that is due is really the most pressing thing on their minds. If a business owner defies the lock down, the police are sent to shut the business down. It's a very difficult situation. Indeed, they have the right to be open. Everything about the Lock downs are wrong. "Essential" versus "Non-essential" businesses? Are you kidding me? All businesses are essential. Try telling that to the wife and kids that their business isn't 'essential'. It should be obvious to everyone this a gross violation of Rights. Where are the lawyers and the courts on this?

The only way to stop this madness is for every one to unite against it. If small businesses all defied the tyranny together, there is a chance of success. In Wisconsin the WI Bar and Restaurant Association sued Governor Evers. There needs to be far more of this and open defiance on all levels.

You're on to something, but it needs massive numbers.
