If a thirsty alcoholic has a boatload of liquor in storage just around the corner, and has the key in hand, you might see him take a few drinks of whatever's available (though not up to his liking) along the way.
If his daddy that he's trusted for so many years has sent word that the liquor cabinet is all his once he gets there it will be quite hard to throw him off his course and endeavor.

The idea that the extreme left and right are only far apart if you the spectrum was a straight line. In reality the spectrum is the shape of a horseshoe and the extremes are not far apart at all.
i.e. The radical left and the Q movement both surround themselves in an echo chamber, reject all self reflection, and shun anyone who does not subscribe to their group think. The only real difference is the delusion they chose to subscribe to.
