Don't forget the russian novel "we". The history of the book is incredible, it should be taught right next to orwell.
I've never heard of that. I assume it's been translated? Another book for the reading list! Also, interesting you should mention Orwell being taught. I remember reading 1984 in high school English. Not sure they do that anymore.
We has definitely been translated into English. Well worth a read too.
"WE" is a russian book, so controversial that it was banned in Russia. It was first published in the english (and possibly french) translation for the united states, whose respect for freedom of speech allowed such a work. When 1984 was written it was criticized for how similar it was to We, and is widely regarded as the grandfather of 1984. I wish I had read the book sooner, it's quite enjoyable.
