If the connection is there, but sites cannot be found by name, most likely one domain name system server is not working as expected. You get the address of one DNS server automatically from your internet provider after connecting. Most systems (PC, router, ...) allow you to add alternative servers for redundancy, typical 8.8.8.8 (Google), 1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9. There are many more, some are explicit there to avoid censuring:

I had a weird thing happen last night, on my cell-- it's never happened before... You know how every once in a while you can hear your own voice on a 1 or 2 second delay feedback through your earpiece? Well, I was about 12 minutes into a perfectly clear call, and then I heard a voice coming through that hadn't been there... I thought it was that feedback-thing going on. I asked the other party, "did you hear that?", and they said "no". So we keep talking and it's clear again, and then a couple of minutes later it happens again-- but it definitely was NOT my voice. It was another voice coming through, almost louder than us on the call and it sounded like radio comm chatter-- kind of garbled, but I could tell it was a woman operator's voice. I could not tell what was being said, but it had that tone and cadence of a radio transmission. This happened a few more times over the next two minutes or so, the other party still never able to hear what I was hearing, when I finally was too freaked and ended the call. This was on Verizon network, Samsung Android, around 10:30 pm eastern.
My wife tried talking to her sister there in the US on messenger, No luck all day.
Happened to me really early this morning. Nothing worked for about half an hour or so
Just this site was down. Everything else worked. It was like 15 minutes ago
I fought with this yesterday for a while, I couldn't connect to Poal until I enabled my VPN. Everything was fine just a few hours before that too.
