With the statement from the Mozilla CEO yesterday, badmouthing Patriots, I will be dumping Firefox browser today after 15 years of use. (yes I switched to them that early).

Quick searches have led me to Waterfox as my new choice, but Im looking for y'all to add guidance and insight as to its safety, etc.

Any advice?

I used Waterfox a couple of years ago but they got way behind on keeping up with security updates (still based off Firefox core), and then Firefox finally got their hardware acceleration implemented so I switched back. I have done a lot of customization on Firefox since and wouldn't want to give up DoH, ESNI, and plugins, so it would be a painful move back. Firefox as bad as their political motives, still is far safer than Chrome - except their statement makes it sound like site blocking could be in future builds.
