I was 7 when it first aired but, as long as I didn't give her a hard time about getting up for school, my mom used to let me stay up so I could see some good shows on our brand new Magnavox color tv!

We were strapped, all the money was in dad's business, we had 1 TV, 17" B/W "portable" by RCA. 3 stations came in most of the time and occasionally a very snowy PBS station in good weather. I'm thinking I was around 8 yrs old but my folks were adamant about my bedtime. I didn't get to see all of the episodes until they reran the series a few years later.

We were far from rich. Dad worked in a factory and sucked up all the overtime he could, mom worked part time bookkeeping for a couple friends who owned their own businesses. Dad would do anything for Mom, so when she wanted one of those newfangled color tvs, she got one.

Star Trek first aired in '66, so we had it before then. Probably one of the first in the neighborhood to get one. I liked seeing all the saturday morning cartoons in color.

I bet you liked color cartoons! When the weather was bad, our B/W screen looked like snow with audio, and if you were lucky you could make out the moving images in the snow.

My dad was a young start-up Builder/Contractor at that time. Started with nothing, hard working and frugal. The generation that seldom threw anything out.
