"You will still need a phone number for registration, but you can choose to share it with no one."

No. That's not private, it's personally identifiable information.

Anyone who uses such a service and puts their real picture in their profile does not care one bit about their privacy. They broadcast their lives every day like if they are on the Truman Show. Privacy only matters to them when they do something wrong and it spreads like wildfire on social media and whatnot. I have no sympathy for them.

Never understood how signal was supposed to be a private method regardless. You have to give them your phone number.

I can say all I want about not releasing your data, but if it's stored somehow (aka to facilitate people finding you by this phone number) then it can be retrieved.

I dont even think pissing in your own yard is private anymore, not if they dont want it to be.

Signal's always crowed about how "private" they are, but they've always required your phone number.

I use Tox for private communications, although I'm sure it leaks somehow.
