No, the 74 Firebird we just coat hanger the window to unlock it, then jam a screwdriver in the ignition cylinder because GM.

Funny you should say that. For that very reason, I have a hidden toggle that enables/disables the distributer. I had a younger "family member" that successfully used to joy ride my car while we were gone. Only found out when the neighbor told me he was surprised I let him drive it while I was gone. One toggle switch, a hidden camera, and an open handed slap later my car doesn't get taken for joy rides anymore, unless I'm the one driving.
That's the way to do it. Out of band security usually foils the common criminal because they don't have time to search for something when they don't know exactly what it is.

I used to have a ricer '89 Civic hatch with a ZC engine swap and the big bearing trans. Previous owner did a weight reduction by removing all HVAC including the dash components. Thing was a tin can on wheels with spunk. Because the HVAC controls did absolutely nothing I wired the ignition coil power directly through them as anti-theft.
It was impossible for the car to run if the AC wasn't "on" and the blower on setting 3.
Genius...
