Be careful with what you put on your car. People are watching.

This is infosec, not opsec. Opsec would be if you actually did those things you advertise on your car.

RetardBird

[–] 3 pts 2y

SE covers both domains. The fact any if this information can be gleaned for SE purposes introduces a vector to interject in the operation of activity, thus an opsec concern.

I've advocated for people to wake up to this shit, but they still do it.

Alas, let them eat cake.

[–] 2 pts 2y

What do you advertise on your car?

[–] 4 pts 2y

Literally nothing.

[–] 2 pts 2y

Good.

[–] [deleted] 4 pts 2y

No bullshit on my vehicle, not even the license plate cover that says where it was bought. Cover your vin too

[–] 0 pt 2y

For people who don’t know, in most states having your vin obscured is ticketable

[–] [deleted] 1 pt 2y

I've never had an issue. Maybe not being a public nuisance has something to do with the lack of scrutiny.

[–] 1 pt 2y (edited 2y)

Right, nanny patrol cops walking the city 100% need you to be a nuisance in order to harass you or your vehicle

[–] 4 pts 2y

Don't forget those who put the family member stickers on the back window. "Here are the possible targets"

[–] 2 pts 2y

'My daughter/son is an honor roll student at Shlomo Shekelstein School!'

Great idea, Mom.

[–] 3 pts 2y

My son was Inmate of the Year at (insert penn. here)!

[–] 3 pts 2y

'My loser son can beat up your honor roll son'--a bumper sticker I saw once in Central Florida

[–] 2 pts 2y

As though knowing the name of some school in the area could make your kid specifically a more likely target

[–] 2 pts 2y

Yes, if the perv sees the car parked at the house, he now knows what she looks like when she comes outside, and can look for her during recess. NO personal info should be on a car.

[–] 3 pts 2y

I bought a van 5 months ago that has a little sticker that says "TRUMP|PENCE 2016" from the previous owner, but I like it and gonna leave it on.

[–] 3 pts 2y

Exactly. It amuses me how people love to advertise their political views on their property, their clubs, affiliations, religion, schools, etc. Baby on board erks me a bit: am I supposed to drive more carefully when I see that? It's like saying "before you decide to ram your vehicle into mine, I have a baby." Given the hatred toward whites, it could have the opposite effect.

[–] 2 pts 2y

"Good thing they had that baby-on-board placard, otherwise I'd have T-boned the hell out've 'em!"

[–] 3 pts 2y

The more non-descript your vehicle, the better.

[–] 3 pts 2y

For a short time, I had a brown Buick something or other. The most boring, non-descript cars in the world. I used to joke that I could run people down and it would just be "Oh, that's some old man in a buick, ignore him."

[–] 3 pts 2y (edited 2y)

Buick Century: the car completely void of style or description.

Preferrably in beige or grey.

[–] 3 pts 2y

That's it, it was a Century. Belonged to my grandmother, went to my father, and I tried to buy it. He wouldn't sell, ended up rotting away and being given to someone for parts.

It was that Bronze-ish color. May be a boring car, but I will admit that it rode wonderfully, and a road trip in it would be quite pleasant.

[–] 3 pts 2y

Good info graphic. I've heard before that it is a horrible idea to put gun stickers on your car, like those glock or Browning ones that are popular. People will watch your house and try and steal your guns when you aren't home

[–] 3 pts 2y

Likewise the amateur radio license plates are terrible because they have your call sign. I now have your name, address, and knowledge that you're not home right now.

[–] 2 pts 2y

ham equipment can be pricy AF too.

[–] 2 pts 2y

Some hams are smart enough to have a mailbox at a store.

But it still makes your name easy to look up

Also tail numbers, but pilots will often have an LLC that "owns" the plane.

[–] 1 pt 2y

My only real problem with having my actual name and address is that you get the fearmongers that try to scare you into using their service to renew your license (at a cost of course.)

Renewing an amateur license is just going online and filling out a form that basically means "Yeah, still alive, thanks."

[–] 3 pts 2y

Mine just says "I hate niggers"

[–] [deleted] 3 pts 2y

Good OpSec is putting all those stickers on your car when none of them are true.

[–] 3 pts 2y

Use to your advantage. Put stickers on an otherwise unstickered car for events, then remove immediately after. The witnesses will only remember the Hitler Rocks! and swastika stickers , not the licence plate.

[–] 3 pts 2y

There was a madlad a few years ago who put Trump and Maga stickers onto antifa cars during some riot a few years ago, when the owners came back they found that their fellow commies had broken their windows with baseball bats and slashed their tires.

[–] 1 pt 2y

Bur they did it peacefully, so it was OK.

[–] 1 pt 2y

Get them printed on magnets. When done, put on someone else's car. Possibly one with a "Hillary 2016" sticker.

[–] 2 pts 2y

I use magnetic sheets and apply the stickers on that, trim excess. no residue left on vehicle, can be removed in 2 seconds.

[–] 2 pts 2y

I have a small barbell and black sun casting I made hanging from my mirror, nothing else
