I was thinking about this whole privacy issue the other day. What came to mind was that in previous centuries in Christian countries, people often had a picture in their house, sometimes mounted over the head of their bed, that showed the eye of God in a triangle. The message was that the eye of God sees all, and like Santa Claus, "knows when you've been good or bad." Christians used to believe this, so the painting reminded them that they must be careful of their words and actions at all times, because God saw everything they did, and would judge them.

Skip ahead to the 21st century, when most people don't believe in God. But they do believe in Internet surveillance. They believe completely that they are being monitored and watched, that everything they do online is, at least potentially, being observed and recorded. The Internet has become the eye of God. It knows when we are good or bad. And it is judgmental. It will punish us for "badness," as defined by the cunts who control the Internet. People are now afraid to visit a porn site, because someone may be watching and recording. They are afraid to speak their mind on social sites about political issues. They are afraid to criticize the holy of holies, homosexuality in all its nasty forms, because the electronic God of the Internet is watching and will punish them.
