Seems like a trojan horse phone. It's probably got C_A/F_I baked right into it. Additionally, it still uses the Big Tech mobile phone infrastructure so I'd hardly called it "uncensorable" or "private".

You are correct. Telecom specially does not enable call encryption because state players require intercept capabilities.

FreedomOS is just a custom Android ROM with a new/third party app store.

It IS open source though so at least you could in theory verify: https://github.com/agravelot/FreedomOS
