Never let a crisis go to waste.

A natural reaction of law enforcement. And since law enforcement is aligned with the criminals, this request will be granted.

There is already a shift towards peer to peer plus end to end encryption. A back door will only work when data goes through a central server. Independent developers will use the encryption they think will work, no matter what. Since these new privacy focused apps won't be using servers for anything but routing, these backdoors will be useless.

There are multitudes of privacy focused technologies already available like IPFS, which is immune to content take down. Think of it like Napster as a file share. Then there is an app called Briar. Another privacy focused app that doesn't require the Internet as such. It will make its own ad hock network from Bluetooth and WiFi. When the Internet is available, it uses TOR to connect your device with other devices so you are anonymous . The design is predicated on the fact there is a hostile actor trying to discover who you are. It uses end to end encryption to ensure no man in the middle attacks can occur. I already use Signal, and even that has an attack vector. However, it's much more secure than most of the other messaging apps.
