I also believe that the Russians know all that I just read and likely knew about 5 eyes before it happened so Snowden was protected more being there, but it gave Russia some big bait like a honeypot to watch everything within a hundred yards of Snowdens location and to create a database of anyone that even go that close and also watch all communications and take all IP addresses from locations that do not seem normal indicating possible spy location or a lead to the spy location that the agents worked at like a home or a place of business.
