I don't buy that. The US and Israel HATE the taliban. If they were going to intentionally give gear to anyone it'd be isis (which they already do anyway). More likely they thought the Afghanistan military would appropriate it and failed to foresee that the taliban would take full control in such an insanity short amount of time due to them having so much support from the people. Imagine that, elites being out of touch with regular people...
I dunno if I buy the theory that the Taliban would sooner side with the US or Israel over ISIS or any other Muslim sect. For all we know they are all more or less loyal to the same long term goals. But it’s also not unheard of for Israel or the US to arm people intentionally to help maintain a level of chaos and instability.
