i was under the impression its illegal to be a dual national and hold office in the us.
i am also under the impression that according to israeli law anyone self describing as a 'jew' has an automatic right to israeli citizenship and therefore no jew should legally be able to hold a public office in the us.
and i truly doubt ilhan omar has given up any of the 5 citizenships shes got let alone hundreds of others...
same thing happened here in aus although for slightly different reasons. hell i had no idea i was a dual national until i went to go to the uk, uk law says i was automatically english under the same rules as a fuckton of other white euro nations have for descendents of their citizens, so fuckloads of our MPs ended up finding out they were dual nationals and didnt know it and therefore ineligible for office. i know a few senators stood down over it but it ended up a nothingburger in the end... kind of complicated here when a good portion of people my age or slightly older have parents from overseas.

Although most of you voted no, the answer is yes. Many of our jews in Congress also are citizens in Israel. Which for a jew is automatic upon arrival. It is however unlawful to vote in that nation, that would mean you have given up your citizenship to the U..S.. It should be absolutely prohibited for that scenario to occur as it would inevitably lead to a conflict of interest.
