I think the government has access to enough computing power to render it useless
You would be wrong. Bitcoin is powered by the most powerful distributed computer in the world, capable of processing 173.57 EH/s double SHA256.
The computing power necessary to achieve this is astronomical and nontrivial. Never mind trying to successfully 51% attack 3-6 blocks in a row.
Explain how that happens on a technical level please, and quantify how much computing power is required to do this.
You’re talking out of your ass.
You think The United States of America would be unable to shut down bitcoin
The USA would not be able to shut down Bitcoin.
Nobody can shut down Bitcoin.
All (((they))) can do is move it deeper into the shadows, where it will just continue to organically gain strength, anyway.
For real.
You’ve clearly never worked with federal tech hires lol. Get back to me when you have some experience in the real world or any knowledge at all about what you’re talking about.
There’s actually a different threat of too much computing power (that he was probably referring to without understanding) that affects blockchain tech but it’s widely misrepresented and not something the US gov could just decide to take over Bitcoin with.
