Who knows, maybe.

But I have never encountered a good explanation for what qualia is, so my current theory is that qualia is an illusion.

The idea that every person has was soul/identity was an illusion, so I'm thinking qualia can be an illusion too.

For example, imagine programming an AI to believe and think it has qualia without it actually having qualia.
