It seems that sites like Poal and Voat just become a huge garbage dump with random subs scattered throughout. Wouldn't it make more sense to have major-categories which are created by the admins and then sub-categories, then sub-sub-categories..., layered below those? USENET was structured that way which made it much easier to peruse to find points of interest. I would even say that all sub-categories would need to be applied for so that they are placed into the hierarchy in the correct order.

I somewhat like the idea, but that cannot be easy to actually do. It would have to be a back burner project if it will ever happen.

Edit: As the site grows and subs grow with it, the idea may be a now or never thing.

Is there a minimum time requirement for users to exist before creating a sub? For example, Saidit.net needs an account to be two weeks old to create a sub.

I keep trying to create a sub, after I click on "create a sub", and then click on the "sub name" textbox, I immediately get sent to the home page.
