Not a big issue but here's what I just saw...

I'm logged in. I just refreshed the tab to check for new posts on s/all/new.

A second after the screen refreshed, a new post suddenly popped up from the auto-updater. The new post already had 118 upvotes!

The oddity screenshot. (pic8.co)

I think the vote counter for the display for those not logged in (using the new maths) was used by the auto-updater to produce the 118 vote count, but I am logged in so it should have been using the old-math vote counter.

I refreshed the screen after the new post popped up and the vote count for that new post corrected from 118 to 1 (as expected).

Added: Also note that the username of the poster was also omitted by the auto-updater.

It’s done on purpose to confuse bots.

So it's a feature!

That was the first time I'd seen it.

There are different vote counts when viewing logged-in vs not?

Yes! AOU created that feature about a month or so ago. If you aren't logged in when displaying a POAL subverse page, the numbers are greatly exaggerated (using "new maths" lol!) to make non-POALers seeth and cope that they can't get through intros.

I guess I haven't been paying attention. What non-Poalrs are seething?

(((non-POALers))) were the target audience IIRC.

Anyone that comes here that doesn't have enough fake Poal votes to see NSFW, iirc. Wouldn't have said anything, I would have passed this by, but I've seen this a few times, too. (Eternal phonefag.) Stood out , it's always new users, with little to no points. Thought it was to frustrate the things that hate us, all non Whites, jews, muslims, any American or foreign intelligence agency agents, etc. Basically, animals that hate humans.

Why isn't this thread nsfw?

/s/Poaldev doesn't offer a nsfw box during post submission.
