Clicking/tapping on Post's thumbnails will now open the Expando when the Post is compatible with it - You'll know it is when a media (image/video/audio) or embed friendly website icon shows in the Post's toolbar, next to the comments icon, on its left side.

How do I make it go away after I open and read it? I tried tapping another post, tapping dead space on the screen, swiping to the left and right ...

If I click the crossed eye icon it goes to hidden posts.

That's what the crossed eye icon is for. It has nothing to do with the Expando.
