I tried to upvote and the button was unresponsive yesterday, I just refreshed the page and it worked fine.

We were working on live poal without taking it down, so you probably voted when we were updating and restarting stuff.
If a vote takes more than a few milli-seconds to register, it's probably the connection that is laggy or it's our fault. Pick one :)

I'd argue that a more helpful error message would be something like, "Error: User has exceeded posting threshold."
