It looks pretty for sure but perfomance wise @AOU and myself have seen some serious lag issues. So we are taking suggestions for the next chat system to try

rocket.chat also uses mongoDB which is tough to integrate with poals database for auth. I made some progress on my test instance but it was slow.

So If you have a suggestion feel free to post it.

Its probably not relevant, but i really like the little blue chat thingie at the bottom of the poal front page.

Any way to have that go back more than just a few comments? As well as have them timestamped? I guess what I'm really asking is, could you make that little blue thingie more robust and just have it at the bottom of every page instead of just front page?

(Brave on mobile, if that explains any of the aforementioned things lacking)

All those ideas were always part of the plan. I thought I could do it with rocket.chat but it didn't work well. So we are seeking a better platform to integrate into that chat on the main page. We may even implement a chat for each sub eventually. Thats a long way off though if it happens.

It might be feasible to have the notabug network host your chats but I’m not sure how the account integration would work with that. You’d probably have to create nab accounts for each user and send the password to their js code to use for chatting.

This approach would compromise end user privacy for private messages when I implement those though since you would be controlling the poal user’s mapped nab accounts.
