I know you're doing good work to improve the site and all, but I gotta say I'm not a fan of the new layout on desktop. The up and down voting arrows feel weird in a horizontal layout which betrays the intuitive up/down nature of the arrows. I'd say make them point left and right to fit the layout aesthetic, but that would be truly odd feeling in terms of their function. Opening a post reveals the old layout which makes the whole thing feel really inconsistent, but you may not have gotten around to changing the post/comment pages to match yet so that's not a fair critique.
Not any sort of deal to anyone but me, but the updates also made my Poal customizations gimped/stop working/weird looking with the many CSS selector and HTML structure changes. Going to have to see if this design sticks before I go fix my customizations again. First world problems...
Not trying to sound ungrateful or anything here. Just adding my unsolicited opinion on work I contribute nothing to. Thanks for doing what you do even when I have a differing opinion on it. :D
Thanks for your feedback!
This is a first step to some more UI changes I've been planning for quite some time. These changes were necessary to conform with the future updates.
Sorry if they broke your custom CSS.

No problem. You are doing a great job keep things updated and running so as a fellow programmer I can appreciate the tough balance between necessary changes and user opinions on change. You can't please everybody but the code doesn't care because it's just code.
I'll fix my GM scripts and extension code to restore my personal enhancements to use the updated features. Perhaps it will be a good thing as I now have a better place to add some of my icons, badges and tags with the post header having available real estate. My opinion will probably improve once I dig in and explore the possibilities a bit more. It was just the abrupt change that made me get opinionated.
Again, thanks for keeping Poal fresh and super stable. I'll get over dealing with change. :)
The way you two were just talking all techy made me feel a little funny inside. Then I checked my pants and found a baby in there. Good job, you guys officially impregnated the entire world with this discussion.
Now I'll have to adjust my own CSS programming to allow the arrows to flow more naturally for all of us too.
Go team.

I like the new design much better than the old. The up and down arrows feel much more streamlined now and feel so much more intuitive. Beyond that, the overall aesthetic flows much better in the page.
Stop being an ungrateful douchebag.
Discussion and differing views are what lead to group intelligence. Don't be a retard and REEEEEE any time someone goes against the grain.
