I was just asking from a technical standpoint... Is it even possible.

It is possible to do it with some JS and get the comment saved on the user side (by using the browser's LocalStorage)

I just remembered where I had seen the auto draft save before... it was on Gab. Just checked and they still have it.

Their web site is a hot mess, though.
