Including punctuation in the 'Search' field can cause a return of no results despite results existing due to search removing punctuation prior to searching.

For example:

There are several threads titled:

Restaurant defies judge’s closure order by removing doors, declaring autonomous zone: ‘Padlock this!’

Note the punctuation in "judge's".

If you search All for "Restaurant defies judge’s closure order" to find all posts reporting this story, it returns no results due to the search removing punctuation and instead searching for "Restaurant defies judges closure order" with the apostrophe removed from "judge's":

https://poal.co/search/Restaurant%20defies%20judges%20closure%20order

Shortening it to only searching up to the punctuation does return the results:

https://poal.co/search/Restaurant%20defies%20judge

Additionally, it appears that manually adding the encoded apostrophe character (%27) into the search link also returns no results despite correctly matching the title of the posts with the apostrophe present:

The search is limited on purpose and we're working on a new version. Stay tuned!

That's great to hear! Thank you.

I was considering asking in IdeasForPoal about whether you might consider a feature request to alter Search so that it would allow for searching by link matching instead of by post text matching.

So if it I pasted the link for that article (https://archive.is/wpU7R) into the search field it would show me all posts that have that link as their link and what subs they are posted in to help lessen duplicate posts.

I hope that this might be a feature of the new version when you roll it out, and if it is not, that it might be something that you might consider implementing some day.

Thank you, AOU.

I appreciate your time on fixing that. Thank you very much! I look forward to the future search update.
