called Centaurus A is presently undergoing the transition process from a disc to an elliptical galaxy, when the local or Milky Way Galaxy and relatively nearby the Andromeda Galaxy go thru the same process, all three will form a typically seen at the heart of larger galaxy clusters, as per the NASA / Chandra X-ray Observatory shot of Abell 1689 above .. at Simbad.
